Vorupør is a small fishing village, which lies by the North Sea in Thy in northwestern Jutland. If you go to the small harbour you can see the small fishing boats, which are landing their fresh catch, when the weather allows. Vorupør has a very good beach (blue flag). The village lies inside of Thy National Park (the first national park in Denmark). A new bicycle path, which runs all the way through the National Park, runs through Vorupør. The village has good shopping facilities. The museum shows the history of Vorupør and the fishery from the coast and in the North Sea Aquarium you can see the different species of fish, which lives in the North Sea. Vorupør is part of Cold Hawaii (which is known for surfing) and in the local surf shop you can register for a surfing course.
There is a lot of activity going on by the pier and the harbour. The renovation of the pier is completed and a new promenade and a big surfing terrasse has been built. The old fishing cabins are renovated. Finally a new big sea water pool is built next to the pier (see in the links section below – you can also see it on the webcam from Vorupør). A new center presenting Thy National park is now being built. It is expected to be completed for Easter 2021.
